ABOUT ME
My name is Tyson Squiers and I am the Physical Education teacher at St. Francis Xavier. I am originally from the small town of Belle Plaine, Iowa, where I grew up with an affinity for learning and adventure. My time was filled with a variety of sports, band, and performing arts. Attending Loras College was the next chapter in my life. While in college, I studied Physical Education and Health while also running cross country and track. My wife, Julie, and I met during college as well.
Our family now resides in Dubuque with our dog Arlo, and our daughter Charlotte. Our free days are filled with anything that allows us to be outside and remain active. Biking, running, hiking, and long dog walks are just a few activities that we partake in. Physical Education, sports, and recreation have always been a large part of my life. Through participation in a variety of different activities, I was able to find my niche and could continue to do those things throughout my life. Being able to pass that love and appreciation on to other students and athletes is what motivates me every day. The smile on a child's face when they achieve a goal or beat a personal best is something that is unforgettable. The fact that I get to be a part of that on a regular basis is what makes this job so rewarding.
A healthy future starts with children. Get them outside. Get them off the electronics. Get them involved. |
